THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RALEIGH/DURHAM HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  445 AM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN NORTH CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA
 
   ...ALAMANCE COUNTY
 
AT 130 AM...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR DETECTED HEAVY RAIN WITH
SHOWERS AND EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS OVER A LARGE PORTION OF ALAMANCE
COUNTY. THE RADAR INDICATED THAT NEARLY TWO INCHES OF RAIN IS LIKELY TO
HAVE FALLEN OVER NORTHERN PORTIONS OF THE COUNTY AND NEARLY ONE INCH OF
RAIN OVER SOUTHERN PORTIONS IN THE PAST THREE HOURS.
 
ADDITIONAL RAINFALL FROM SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS IS LIKELY TO CAUSE
FLASH FLOODING OF STREAMS AND CREEKS IN THE AREA AND RAPID RISES CAN BE
EXPECTED ALONG THE HAW RIVER EARLY THIS MORNING.
 
 
FLOOD WATERS ARE HARDER TO SEE AT NIGHT AND MOST FLASH FLO6OD
FATALITIES OCCUR AT NIGHT.  AVOID DRIVING ACROSS FLOODED ROADWAYS.
WATER TWO FEET DEEP CAN FLOAT MOST CARS OFF THE ROAD.  REPORT
FLOODING TO LOCAL EMERGENCY OFFICIALS IMMEDIATELY.
