000 TTAA00 KPIT 022353 RRA FFWPIT PAC129-030345- BULLETIN - EBS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PITTSBURGH PA 750 PM EDT WED AUG 2 1995 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PITTSBURGH HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1145 PM EDT FOR THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN WEST PENNSYLVANIA ...WESTMORELAND COUNTY THUNDERSTORMS WITH TORRENTIAL RAINS HAVE BEEN FALLING OVER EASTERN WESTMORELAND COUNTY ALONG THE WESTERN SLOPES OF THE LAUREL RIDGE. 2.36 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN IN JUST 1 HOUR AT LAUREL MOUNTAIN STATE PARK. 1.18 INCHES OF IT FELL IN JUST 15 MINUTES. CREEKS IN THIS AREA INCLUDE ROLLING ROCK CREEK...LAUGHLINTOWN RUN AND LINN RUN. THESE FLOW WESTWARD INTO LAUGHLINTOWN AND FLOW INTO THE LOYALHANNA CREEK NEAR LIGONIER. LINN RUN FLOWS THROUGH LINN RUN STATE PARK. IF YOU ARE CAMPING OR LIVE NEAR THESE AREAS...MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IF WATER RISES. A SKYWARN OBSERVER IN CHAMPION REPORTED NEARLY 2 INCHES OF RAIN. INDIAN CREEK WILL BE RUNNING HIGH. FLASH FLOODING OCCURS WITHOUT WARNING. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT. MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMP T TO CROSS BRIDGES OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROAD. NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT.
