FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  200 PM EDT
FOR THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN NORTH WEST VIRGINIA
 
   ...MONONGALIA COUNTY...PRESTON COUNTY
 
DOPPLER RADAR AT 1140 AM EDT SHOWED STORMS WITH HEAVY RAIN
FALLING ACROSS EASTERN MONONGALIA COUNTY AND MOVING EASTWARD
AT 10 TO 15 MPH INTO NORTHERN PRESTON COUNTY.
RADAR ALSO INDCICATED AROUND 1.25 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN
IN ONE HOUR ACROSS EASTERN MONONGALIA COUNTY.
TRAVELLING ALONG INTERSTATE 79 AND 68 IN MONONGALIA COUNTY
MAY BE HAZARDOUS FOR THE NEXT TWO HOURS DUE TO HEAVY RAINS.
ALSO CAMPERS SHOULD BE AWARE OF RISING WATERS IN COOPERS
STATE PARK IN PRESTON COUNTY. MOTORISTS SHOULD BE ALSO
ALERT FOR HEAVY STORMS AND RAINS ALONG INTERSTATE 68 IN
PRESTON COUNTY.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT.  IT IS
IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHERE YOU ARE RELATIVE TO STREAMS...RIVERS...OR
CREEKS WHICH CAN BECOME KILLERS IN HEAVY RAINS.  CAMPERS SHOULD AVOID
CAMPING ALONG STREAMS DURING THREATENING RAINS.
 
MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT ATTEMPT
TO CROSS BRIDGES OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY
TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT.
