TXZ027-043-192040- SOUTH PLAINS/LOW ROLLING PLAINS THUNDERSTORM OUTLOOK NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LUBBOCK TX 1139 AM CDT WED APR 19 1995 THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE LOW ROLLING PLAINS THIS WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING. THE SLIGHT RISK AREA IS GENERALLY EAST OF A MATADOR TO CLAIREMONT LINE. THIS MORNING A SURFACE LOW PRESSURE AREA WAS LOCATED NEAR HOBBS NEW MEXICO WITH A WARM FRONT EXTENDING EASTWARD FROM HOBBS TO ABILENE TEXAS. AN UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WAS OVER SOUTHWESTERN NEW MEXICO AND MOVING NORTHEASTWARD TOWARD THE TEXAS PANHANDLE. BY THIS AFTERNOON...THE SURFACE LOW PRESSURE AREA WILL BE LOCATED OVER THE LOW ROLLING PLAINS WITH THE WARM FRONT EXTENDING EASTWARD TOWARD THE RED RIVER. A DRYLINE WILL BE LOCATED FROM THE LOW PRESSURE AREA OVER THE ROLLING PLAINS SOUTHWARD TO THE CONCHO VALLEY THIS AFTERNOON. WIDELY SCATTERED TO SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP ALONG AND AHEAD OF THE DRYLINE AND ALONG THE WARM FRONT AHEAD OF THE SURFACE LOW PRESSURE AREA. LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING STRAIGHT-LINE WINDS SHOULD BE THE MAIN SEVERE WEATHER THREAT. HOWEVER...TORNADOES ARE ALSO POSSIBLE DUE TO A FAVORABLE WIND PROFILE IN THE ATMOSPHERE. AT 1243 PM...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED A SMALL AREA OF THUNDERSTORMS HAD RAPIDLY DEVELOPED OVER THE SOUTH PLAINS. THE STORMS WERE LOCATED ALONG AND NEAR A LINE FROM NEAR MULESHOE IN BAILEY COUNTY TO THE SOUTHWEST PART OF HOCKLEY COUNTY NEAR THE COMMUNITY OF SUNDOWN. THE THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING TO THE EAST-NORTHEAST AT 35 MPH. THE THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO REACH THE LITTLEFIELD AND LEVELLAND AREAS BY 130 PM.
