THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PORT ARTHUR HAS ISSUED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1145 AM CST
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...S...
 
IN SOUTHEAST TEXAS
 
   ...SOUTHERN NEWTON COUNTY...ORANGE COUNTY
 
AT 1055 AM CST...DOPPLER WEATHER RADAR SHOWED A LINE OF SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS MOVING THROUGH JEFFERSON COUNTY INTO ORANGE AND SOUTHERN
NEWTON COUNTY.
 
WINDS HAVE GUSTED TO 46 MILES AN HOUR AT JEFFERSON COUNTY AIRPORT AS THE
LINE MOVED ACROSS.  THE STRONGEST STRORMS WERE OVER BEAUMONT AND PORT
ARTHUR WITH WINDS INDICATED TO 60 MPH.
 
THE LINE WAS MOVING EAST AT 25 MILES AN HOUR WHILE THUNDERSTORMS WERE
MOVING NORTHEAST AT 45 MILES AN HOUR.
 
A TORNADO WATCH IS ALSO IN EFFECT FOR THE WARNED AREA.  REMEMBER
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY DO PRODUCE TORNADOES
WITH LITTLE OR NO ADVANCE WARNING.  REMAIN CALM BUT BE ALERT TO
RAPIDLY CHANGING WEATHER CONDITIONS.
