I CONTINUE TO PREFER ETA SURFACE FEATURES GIVEN ITS BETTER PERFORMANCE WITH POSITIONING OF WEAK LEE TROUGH THROUGH AND NEAR THE CWA. MODELS CONTINUE TO UNDERESTIMATE INSTABILITY AS THEY DO NOT HANDLE THE POOLING OF SURFACE MOISTURE ALONG WEAK SURFACE BOUNDARIES. LATEST MODIFICATION OF 12Z NORTH PLATTE /LBF/ SOUNDING USING 18Z MCCOOK /MCK/ SURFACE OB INDICATED LIFTED INDEX OF -13 AND CAPE AROUND 5600 J/KG. ADAP SHOWS CAP WEAKEST OVER NORTHERN AND CENTRAL NEBRASKA...BUT I WONDER HOW LONG THE CAP WILL LAST OVER THE NORTH PART OF CWA THIS LATE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. 1745Z VISIBLE IMAGE INDICATES CU FORMING ALONG NORTH-SOUTH LINE JUST EAST OF GOODLAND OFFICE AND LOCAL MESOSCALE ANALYSIS SHOWS BEST MOISTURE FLUX CONVERGENCE ALONG KANSAS/NEBRASKA BORDER AND ON LINE FROM OBERLIN /KSZ003/ TO GOVE /KSZ029/.
