IN NORTHEAST COLORADO ...NORTHERN YUMA COUNTY AT 459 PM MDT...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WAS DETECTED BY GOODLAND DOPPLER RADAR 25 MILES NORTHWEST OF WRAY OR 7 MILES NORTHEAST OF YUMA MOVING NORTH AT 14 MPH. AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GOODLAND KS 229 PM MDT (329 PM CDT) TUE JUN 6 1995 DISCUSSION... SFC ANALYSIS SHOWS LOW OVER NW KS AND OVER SOUTH CENTRAL SOUTH DAKOTA ATTM WHICH IS MORE IN LINE WITH THE NGM SOLUTION THAT THE ETA. IN ANY CASE...NEITHER NGM/ETA DID WELL CONCERNING THE MOISTURE OVER THE REGION AS MODELS PUSHED TROF/DRYLINE THROUGH THE CENTRAL PORTIONS OF THE REGION BY THIS TIME. SFC ANALYSIS SHOWS TROF/DRYLINE LOCATED ALONG FAR WESTERN SECTIONS OF THE CWA WITH DEWPOINTS IN THE 60S ALONG AND AHEAD OF THIS FEATURE. THIS HAS RESULTED IN A VERY MOIST AND UNSTABLE ATMOSPHERE ACROSS MUCH OF THE REGION. TROF/DRYLINE TO SLOWLY MOVE THROUGH WESTERN AND CENTRAL PORTIONS OF THE AREA THIS EVENING...BUT LACK OF UPPER LEVEL SUPPORT DURING TIME OF GREATEST INSTABILITY AS WELL AS WARM 7H TEMPERATURES TO LIMIT CONVECTIVE ACTIVITY. WITH HIGH CAPES (3500-4000) OVER THE AREA ANY ACTIVITY THAT DOES FIRE WILL RAPIDLY STRENGTHEN. POSSIBILITY OF SEVERE WEATHER REMAINS OVER THE REGION THROUGH MID EVENING...PERHAPS SLIGHTLY FURTHER WEST THAN INDICATED BY SELS. UPPER LEVEL SUPPORT DOES MOVE IN DURING THE LATE EVENING WHILE 7H TEMPS BEGIN COOLING. THIS SHOULD BE ENOUGH TO TRIGGER WIDELY SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE REGION. BEST CHANCES OVER THE NORTHERN CWA SO WILL SUPPORT 30% POPS THERE. TEMP FORECAST ON TRACK FOR TONIGHT SO NO CHANGES NEEDED THERE. COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH A LARGE PORTION OF THE CWA BY THE EARLY DAYLIGHT HOURS. 5H LOW SLOWS WAY DOWN...LOW PRESSURE AREA TO DEVELOP OVER SOUTHERN WYOMING. FRONT TO THEN STALL OUT.
