THERE IS A MODERATE RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS THIS AFTERNOON AND
TONIGHT FOR THE NORTHWESTERN ONE-HALF OF NORTH TEXAS.  THE MODERATE
RISK AREA IS ALONG AND NORTHWEST OF A PARIS...CLEBURNE...SAN SABA
LINE. THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF SHERMAN...BOWIE...MINERAL
WELLS...BROWNWOOD...ABILENE AND THE DALLAS-FORT WORTH METROPLEX.

THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS THIS AFTERNOON AND
TONIGHT FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE NORTHWESTERN THREE-QUARTERS OF NORTH
TEXAS. THE SLIGHT RISK AREA IS ALONG AND NORTHWEST OF A DE
KALB...TYLER...TEMPLE LINE AND INCLUDES THE CITIES OF SULPHUR
SPRINGS...KAUFMAN...CORSICANA...WACO...KILLEEN AND LAMPASAS.

BY LATE MORNING...A COLD FRONT EXTENDED FROM SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS
INTO A LOW PRESSURE AREA WEST OF AMARILLO TO CENTRAL NEW MEXICO.  A
DRYLINE EXTENDED FROM THE LOW SOUTHWEST TO EXTREME SOUTHEASTERN NEW
MEXICO. WARM...MOIST AIR WAS IN POSITION SOUTH OF THE COLD FRONT AND
EAST OF THE DRYLINE. AS THE DAY PROGRESSES...SURFACE HEATING OVER WEST
TEXAS AND AN APPROACHING UPPER LEVEL IMPULSE WILL MAKE THE ATMOSPHERE
MORE UNSTABLE...THUS GENERATING SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS UP AND DOWN
THE HIGH PLAINS.  ALTHOUGH THE FLOW ALOFT WILL MOVE MOST OF THE
THUNDERSTORMS INTO OKLAHOMA...SOME WILL MOVE INTO THE RISK AREA LATE
THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.

WINDS ALOFT ARE FAVORABLE FOR SUPERCELL DEVELOPMENT DUE TO THE
DIRECTIONAL AND SPEED SHEAR.  THE MAIN THREAT WILL BE FROM LARGE HAIL
AND DAMAGING WINDS...BUT ISOLATED TORNADOES ARE POSSIBLE.

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS AND STORM SPOTTERS ACROSS THE WESTERN
PARTS OF NORTH TEXAS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR POSSIBLE ACTIVATION THIS
AFTERNOON AND THIS EVENING. ACTIVATION MAY BE NECESSARY ACROSS THE
CENTRAL PARTS OF NORTH TEXAS LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT...AND
ACROSS THE NORTHEAST LATE TONIGHT.
