CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE STATE COLLEGE PA 925 AM EDT WED AUG 2 1995 LATEST SURFACE ANALYSIS SHOWS SLOW MOVING/STATIONARY FRONTAL BOUNDARY REMAINS ACROSS THE NY/PA BORDER. WEAK SHOWERS OVER WESTERN PA DISSIPATED BEFORE THEY EVER MOVED INTO THE CTP ZONES. TODAY LOOKS SIMILAR TO THE LAST FEW DAYS...WITH ANOTHER HOT ONE ON TAP. TODAY... HOWEVER... WE DO HAVE THE WEAK FRONTAL SYSTEM TO POSSIBLY HELP TRIGGER/FOCUS SOME LIFT FOR CONVECTION. FRONT IS VERY SHALLOW THOUGH... WITH 850 TEMPS SHOWING NO REFLECTION OF ANY COOLING. ALTHOUGH TEMPS ALOFT PRETTY WARM...WE DID MANAGE TO POP A FEW ISOLATED STORMS LATE TUE AFTERNOON. MODIFIED SOUNDINGS SHOW LI/S IN THE -6 RANGE THIS AFTERNOON (PIT)...AND WITH SFC TEMPS SIMILAR TO YSTDY... CHC POPS ARE PROBABLY WARRANTED...WITH THE GREATEST THREAT IN THE NORTH. JUNG
