THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN COLUMBUS HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  515 AM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN WEST CENTRAL GEORGIA
 
   ...MARION COUNTY...TAYLOR COUNTY
 
AT 259 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED A LARGE AREA OF
RAIN WITH EMBEDDED BANDS OF HEAVY RAIN ACROSS PARTS OF WEST CENTRAL
GEORGIA. A BAND OF HEAVY RAIN EXTENDED FROM 10 MILES SOUTH OF THOMASTON
IN UPSON COUNTY TO NEAR ROBERTA TO 15 MILES WEST OF BUENA VISTA.
MOVEMENT WAS TO THE NORTHEAST AT 10 MPH.
 
FOUR TO FIVE INCHES OF RAIN HAVE OCCURED ACROSS MARION AND TAYLOR COUNTI
DURING THE PAST 24 HOURS WITH ADDITIONAL RAIN AMOUNTS OF ONE TO TWO
INCHES OVER THE NEXT TWO HOURS.
 
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.  IF FLASH FLOODING IS
OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.  MOVE UP TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.  DO
NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
