345 PM CST WED JAN 26 1994

NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND ISOLATED STRONG THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUE TO MOVE
EAST AND NORTHEAST ACROSS THE ARKLATEX REGION...ESPECIALLY EAST-
CENTRAL TEXAS.  SMALL HAIL AND VERY HEAVY RAIN HAS BEEN REPORTED OVER
THE PAST HOUR WITH A FEW OF THESE STORMS.  CONDITIONS REMAIN FAVORABLE
FOR SEVERE STORMS TO DEVELOP ACROSS THE NORTHWEST HALF OF THE ARKLATEX
LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND THIS EVENING...AND SPREAD EASTWARD ACROSS THE
AREA.

AT 340 PM...THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR IN SHREVEPORT INDICATED
A BAND OF SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS THAT EXTENDED FROM
SPRINGHILL AND SHREVEPORT LOUISIANA TO NEAR CARTHAGE TEXAS WHERE A
VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORM WAS OCCURRING.  THE BAND CONTINUED ON
SOUTH OF LUFKIN.

ANOTHER BAND OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WERE LOCATED FROM
ATLANTA TEXAS TO TYLER AND LONGVIEW TO 30 MILES SOUTHWEST OF
TYLER.  THE STORMS WITHIN THIS BAND WERE INCREASING IN INTENSITY.

ALSO AT 340 PM...RADAR SHOWED A BAND OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
THAT EXTENDED FROM MOUNT IDA ARKANSAS TO NEAR IDABEL OKLAHOMA
ACROSS THE RED RIVER TO NEAR QUITMAN TEXAS.

INDIVIDUAL THUNDERSTORMS WERE GENERALLY MOVING NORTHEAST AT 25 MILES
AN HOUR WHILE THE OVERALL RAIN SYSTEM CONTINUED TO SAG SOUTHEAST AT
NEAR 15 MILES AN HOUR.

BESIDES THE THREAT OF ISOLATED SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS THIS AFTERNOON
AND TONIGHT...HEAVY RAINFALL IS LIKELY.  PARTS OF SOUTHWEST ARKANSAS
AND SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA HAVE RECIEVED 2 TO 4 INCHES OF RAIN IN THE
PAST 24 HOURS AND SMALL STREAMS ARE RUNNING NEAR BANKFULL.  ADDITIONAL
HEAVY RAINFALL TONIGHT WILL RESULT IN FLOODING OF LOW LYING AREAS
NEAR SMALL STREAMS AND RIVERS.

STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY AFFECT THE SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER CITY
AREA AT ABOUT 5 TO 7 PM THIS EVENING.
