THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ELKINS HAS ISSUED A
FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  945 AM EST
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN NORTH WEST VIRGINIA
 
   ...NORTHERN MONONGALIA COUNTY...PRESTON COUNTY
 
AT 720 AM EST, COUNTY OFFICIALS IN PRESTON COUNTY REPORTED THAT SOME
SMALL STREAMS ARE STILL OUT OF THEIR BANKS AND MANY MORE ARE RUNNING
HIGH. WATER WAS STILL REPORTED ACROSS COUNTY ROUTE 51 AND HUDSON ROAD.
THE MUD SLIDES ON ROUTES 72 AND 51 WERE REPORTED TO HAVE BEEN CLEARED
AWAY BY THE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS.
 
IN MONONGALIA COUNTY, OFFICIALS REPORT THAT DUNKARDS CREEK AND DENTS RUN
ARE OUT OF THEIR BANKS IN A FEW AREAS AND SEVERAL ROADS ARE COVERED BY
WATER.
 
AT 730 AM EST, RADAR CONTINUES TO SHOW PATCHES OF RAIN WITH EMBEDDED
MODERATE SHOWERS OVER MUCH OF WEST VIRGINIA EAST OF A LINE FROM NEAR
MORGANTOWN SOUTHWEST TO CHARLESTON. MOVEMENT WAS EAST TO NORTHEAST AT 30
TO 35 MILES AN HOUR.
 
ADDITIONAL MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINS ACROSS PRESTON AND NORTHERN
MONONGALIA COUNTIES COULD CAUSE ADDITIONAL STREAMS AND CREEKS TO
OVERFLOW THEIR BANKS AND AGGREVATE THE FLOODING PROBLEMS ALREADY IN
PROGRESS.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
