THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  200 AM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS......

IN SOUTHEAST MISSISSIPPI

   ...JONES COUNTY

AT 808 PM CDT NWS RADAR AT MERIDIAN AND JACKSON INDICATE THAT MORE THAN
THREE INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN IN AND AROUND THE LAUREL AREA. THE
INTENSE THUNDERSTORMS THAT HAVE PRODUCED THIS RAINFALL ARE MOVING SLOWLY
TO THE NORTH AND STAYING THE THE DRAINAGE BASIN FOR THE TALLAHALA CREEK.
THE JONES COUNTY S.O. REPORTS STREET FLOODING IN LAUREL AT THIS TIME.
THE STREET FLOODING SHOULD END BY 1000 PM CDT.

AT 800 PM THE TALLAHALA CREEK WAS ONLY AT 1.22 FEET.  FLOOD STAGE IS 13
FEET.  WITH THE RAIN SO FAR THE CREEK IS EXPECTED TO RISE TO NEAR
BANKFULL BEFORE SUNRISE.  THE STORM IS MOVING SLOWLY TO THE NORTH AND
MORE RAIN IS EXPECTED.  SO FLOODING IS EXPECTED LATE TONIGHT OR EARLY
TOMORROW MORNING.


AT NIGHT BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODS lAND FLASH FLOODS.  IF FLASH FLOODING IS
OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.  MOVE SWIFTLY TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.
