SYNOPSIS:

AN UNSTABLE ATMOSPHERE WILL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING.  THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN SOUTHCENTRAL KANSAS AND THE WESTERN PORTIONS OF
SOUTHEAST KANSAS WEST OF CHAUNTE TO COFFEYVILLE LINE.  THERE IS A
MODERATE RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS EAST OF CHANUTE TO COFFEYVILLE
LINE. SPOTTERS ACTIVATION WILL BE NEEDED THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING
ACROSS SOUTHCENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST KANSAS.   SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
ARE LIKELY ACROSS NORTHCENTRAL KANSAS BUT THEY ARE NOT EXPECTED TO
BECOME SEV(ERE.  THEREFORE...SPOTTER ACTIVATION IS NOT NEEDED NORTH OF

...STRONG WINDS ROARING ACROSS SEDGWICK COUNTY....

AT 1258 PM CDT...OUTFLOW WINDS FROM THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL
KANSAS HAVE PRODUCED WINDS IN THE 50 TO 55 MILE AN HOUR RANGE AT THE
MID-CONTINENT AIRPORT IN WICHITA.

PEOPLE ACROSS SEDGWICK AND BULTER COUNTIES SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR THE
EXTREMELY GUSTY WINDS.

THE STRONG WINDS CAN CAUSE POWER DISRUPTIONS...HAZARDS TO TRAILER AND
HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES.  LOOSE OBJECTS SUCH AS LAWN CHAIRS AND TRASH CANS
SHOULD BE SECURED.

...THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUED TO MOVE OVER CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST KANSAS...

AT 115 PM CDT...NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS...SOME CONTAINING TORRENTIAL
RAINS...PEA TO MARBLE SIZE HAIL...AND GUSTY WINDS...WERE OBSERVED ON
RADAR OVER MUCH OF CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST KANSAS.

THE STRONGEST STORMS WERE FOUND IN A 30 MILE WIDE BAND FROM NEAR
SEDAN...TO 15 MILES SOUTHWEST OF CHANUTE.  THESE STORMS WERE MOVING
RAPIDLY NORTHEAST AT 40 MILES AN HOUR...PEOPLE IN BUFFALO...AND YATES
CENTER ARE IN THE PATH OF THESE STORMS AND SHOULD MOVE INSIDE UNTIL THEY
PASS.

ALSO...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WERE NOTED IN NORTHERN OKLAHOMA...JUST SOUTH
OF THE KANSAS/OKLAHOMA BORDER.  THESE STORMS WERE ALSO MOVING NORTHEAST
AT 40 MIELS AN HOUR AND PEOPLE IN CALDWELL...ARKANSAS CITY...AND ELGIN
ARE IN THE PATH OF THESE STORMS AND SHOULD PREPARE FOR SMALL HAIL...VERY
HEAVY RAINS...AND GUSTY WINDS.

PEOPLE ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST KANSAS SHOULD BE PREPARED TO
MOVE INDOORS IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES.
