NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORT WORTH TX
1110 AM CST SAT FEB 19 1994

...THE WIND ADVISORY FOR THE WESTERN THREE QUARTERS OF NORTH TEXAS
HAS BEEN CANCELLED...

AT 1100 AM SURFACE REPORTS ACROSS NORTH TEXAS INDICATED THAT
SOUTHERLY WINDS WERE AT SUSTAINED SPEEDS OF 10 TO 15 MILES PER HOUR.
HOWEVER...MORNING DATA FROM WEATHER BALLOONS...SURFACE BASED WIND
PROFILERS...AND DOPPLER RADARS INDICATED WINDS OF 40 TO 50 MILES AN
HOUR WERE PRESENT WITHIN 2000 TO 3000 FEET OF THE SURFACE.

THE THICK CLOUD COVER OVER THE AREA WAS PREVENTING SUFFICIENT SURFACE
HEATING NEEDED TO ESTABLISH VERTICAL AIR CURRENTS.  WITHOUT THOSE
VERTICAL MOTIONS...THE TRANSPORT OF HIGH VELOCITY AIR TO THE SURFACE
WILL NOT OCCUR.  ALTHOUGH THE WIND ADVISORY HAS BEEN CANCELLED...
WINDS WILL BE FROM THE SOUTH AT SPEEDS OF 15 TO 25 MILES AN HOUR
ACROSS ALL OF NORTH TEXAS THIS AFTERNOON...AND CAUTION IS ADVISED ON
ALL AREA LAKES
