THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM
WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 245 PM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING
COUNTY
IN THE SOUTH CENTRAL PART OF SOUTH DAKOTA
EASTERN AURORA
AT 205 PM CDT A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WAS LOCATED 2 NORTH OF
PLANKINTON SOUTH DAKOTA OR 25 MILES WEST OF MITCHELL. THE
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WAS MOVING EAST AT 15 MPH.
IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF THIS STORM..YOU SHOULD GET TO A REINFORCED
SHELTER. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM PRODUCES DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF
60 MPH..HAIL 3/4 INCH OR LARGER..DEADLY LIGHTNING..AND HEAVY RAIN
THAT CAN QUICKLY FLOOD A LOW LYING AREA.

A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS HAVE DEVELOPED RAPIDLY OVER SOUTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA AND SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA THIS AFTERNOON. THESE THUNDERSTORMS EXTEND FROM CENTRAL MOODY COUNTY SOUTH DAKOTA...NEAR FLANDREAU...SOUTHEAST INTO ROCK COUNTY MINNESOTA NEAR HARDWICK. LOCAL HEAVY RAIN AND SMALL HAIL IS LIKELY WITH THESE STORMS AS THEY MOVE TO THE EAST AT 15 TO 20 MPH ACROSS SOUTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA AND SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA. PERSONS IN THE PATH OF THESE STORMS SHOULD BE PREPARED TO TAKE COVER AND MOVE TO A SAFE REINFORCED SHELTER IF NECESSARY.
