SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT AND RADAR SUMMARY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DES MOINES IA
1046 PM CDT SUN JUN 12 1994

...TORNADO WATCH IN EFFECT FOR ALL EXCEPT THE EXTREME NORTHEAST
   CORNER OF IOWA UNTIL 4 AM MONDAY MORNING...

AT 1030 PM...NUMEROUS VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUED OVER ABOUT
THE NORTHWEST THIRD OF IOWA. THESE STORMS WERE LOCATED ALONG AND ABOUT
30 MILES EITHER SIDE OF A LINE FROM 10 MILES EAST OF SIOUX CITY EAST
TO AROUND IOWA FALLS THEN NORTHEAST TO OSAGE. IOWA FALLS IS 40 MILES
WEST OF WATERLOO WHILE OSAGE IS 25 MILES NORTHEAST OF MASON CITY.
SEVERAL OF THE STORMS IN THIS AREA WILL PRODUCE TORRENTIAL RAIN...
HAIL...STRONG THUNDERSTORM WINDS AND NEARLY CONTINUOUS CLOUD TO GROUND
LIGHTNING.

THESE STORMS WERE PART OF A LARGER AREA OF SHOWERS AND STORMS THAT WAS
OVER SPREADING THE NORTHWEST HALF OF IOWA. THE LEADING EDGE OF THE
SHOWERS AND STORMS EXTENDED FROM OMAHA/COUNCIL BLUFFS NORTHEAST TO
TO NEAR WATERLOO THEN NORTHEAST TO THE IOWA/WISCONSIN BORDER NEAR
LANSING.

THE SHOWERS AND STORMS WERE MOVING EAST SOUTHEAST AT 30 MILES AN HOUR.
