THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 300 AM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN SOUTHWEST IOWA
 
   ...CASS COUNTY
 
AT 1229 AM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATES
TORRENTIAL RAINFALL CONTINUING TO FALL ACROSS MOST OF THE COUNTY. COUNTY
SHERIFFS REPORTED OVER AN INCH OF RAIN IN LESS THAN A HALF HOUR IN
ATLANTIC.
 
DOPPLER RADAR RAINFALL ESTIMATES INDICATE FROM 2 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN IN
AN AREA BETWEEN GRISWOLD AND ATLANTIC. GRISWOLD IS 45 MILES EAST OF
OMAHA. RADAR AND SATELLITE CONTINUE TO SHOW STRONG THUNDERSTORMS PUSHING
INTO EXTREME EASTERN NEBRASKA...THUS ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAINFALL IS LIKELY
DURING THE NEXT 3 TO 4 HOURS.
 
 
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.  IF FLASH FLOODING IS
OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.  MOVE UP TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.  DO
NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
