CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST TEXAS...
...SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WERE DEVELOPING RAPIDLY OVER NORTH TEXAS...

AT 540 PM CST THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR IN SHREVEPORT SHOWED AN
AREA OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS FROM NEAR THE DALLAS/FORT WORTH METRO
AREA TO BONHAM TEXAS TO 20 MILES WEST OF HUGO OKLAHOMA. IN ADDITION...
WIDELY SCATTERED SHOWERS HAD DEVELOPED FROM NEAR IDABEL OKLAHOMA TO JUST
NORTH OF DEQUEEN ARKANSAS TO MOUNT IDA ARKANSAS...AND ALSO FROM NEAR
HOPE ARKANSAS TO 15 MILES EAST OF PRESCOTT ARKANSAS.

THE ATMOSPHERE HAD BECOME MODERATELY UNSTABLE LATE THIS AFTERNOON OVER
THE ARKLATEX...WITH TEMPERATURES REACHING THE MIDDLE 70S. TO THE NORTH
AND WEST OF THE REGION...A VERY STRONG COLD FRONT EXTENDED FROM NEAR
FORT SMITH ARKANSAS TO NEAR MC ALESTER OKLAHOMA TO JUST WEST OF FORT
WORTH TEXAS. THE TEMPERATURE IN OKLAHOMA CITY WAS ONLY 45 WITH A GUSTY
NORTHWEST WIND. WITH THE STRONG COLD FRONT MOVING TOWARD THE ARKLATEX...
COMBINED WITH AN UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OVER WESTERN OKLAHOMA...
THE STAGE IS SET FOR STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS TO DEVELOP. A SEVERE
THUNDERSTORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1100 PM FOR CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST
TEXAS. MORE THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY DEVELOP ALONG AND AHEAD OF THE
COLD FRONT THIS EVENING...AND THE POSSIBILITY OF SEVERE STORMS OVER
