FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  400 AM EST
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION......
 
IN SOUTH CENTRAL WEST VIRGINIA
 
   ...WESTERN RALEIGH COUNTY
 
THE RALEIGH COUNTY OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES REPORTS A NATURAL DAM ON
THE LEFT FORK OF ROCK CREEK IS UNSTABLE AND THAT RUPTURE OF THE DAM IS
IMMINENT AS A RESULT OF AN ABANDONED MINE EXPLOSION THURSDAY EVENING.
AN ABUNDANCE OF WATER HAS BUILT UP BEHIND THE DAM. EVACUATIONS ARE UNDER
WAY IN ROCK CREEK HOLLOW.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT.  MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS
THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL
ONE...ON FOOT.  TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.
