AT 405 PM NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR SHOWED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS SCATTERED ACCROSS WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA. THE STRONGEST STORM WAS IN SOUTHERN ROCKINGHAM COUNTY. THE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS IN THE NORTHWEST PIEDMONT AND NORTHERN FOOTHILLS WERE MOVING TO THE EAST AT 25 MPH. THESE STORMS ARE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING BRIEF GUSTY WINDS...HEAVY DOWNPOURS AND POSSIBLY SMALL HAIL. PERSONS IN THE NORTHERN FOOTHILLS AND NORTHWEST PIEDMONT SHOULD BE ALERT TO THE POTENTIAL FOR THUNDERSTORMS MOVING THROUGH THE REGION FOR THE REST OF THIS AFTERNOON. THE STRONGEST STORMS WERE NEAR ROXBORO IN PERSON COUNTY AND HILLSBOROUGH IN ORANGE COUNTY. THE LINE WAS MOVING EAST AT 45 MPH AND WILL MOVE THROUGH THE TRIANGLE AREA BETWEEN 8 AND 9 PM.
