A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM FOR NORTHWEST NEW JERSEY AND ORANGE COUNTY..NEW YORK. ANOTHER SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR THE REST OF THE AREA UNTIL 10 PM. AS OF 5:05 PM..NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED A RATHER NARROW LINE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. THIS LINE EXTENDED FROM EAST CENTRAL NEW YORK..WEST OF ALBANY SOUTHWEST ACROSS EXTREME EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA. SOME THUNDERSTORMS CONTAINED IN THIS LINE WERE SEVERE. EARLIER..SCRANTON PENNSYLVANIA REPORTED A WIND GUST TO 58 MPH. THE STRONGEST STORMS WERE OVER SOUTHEAST PENNSYLVANIA AND OVER SULLIVAN AND ULSTER COUNTIES..NEW YORK. AS THESE STORMS MOVE NORTHEAST AT ABOUT 30 MPH..THEY WILL PRODUCE HEAVY RAIN AND STRONG GUSTY WINDS. SOME STORMS MIGHT PRODUCE HAIL.
