THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MINNEAPOLIS HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  330 AM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN CENTRAL MINNESOTA
 
   ...SOUTHERN RENVILLE COUNTY...SIBLEY COUNTY
 
IN SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA
 
   ...REDWOOD COUNTY
 
AT 135 AM...RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING
TORRENTIAL RAINS MOVING ACROSS REDWOOD...SOUTHERN RENVILLE AND
ALL OF SIBLEY COUNTY. AT 120 AM...THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION REPORTED MOBILE HOMES BEING SWEPT AWAY IN THE
MORTON AREA...ABOUT 10 MILES EAST OF REDWOOD FALLS.
 
SOME CITIES INCLUDED IN THE WARNING ARE...MORGAN...LAMBERTON
AND WALNUT GROVE IN REDWOOD COUNTY...FAIRFAX IN RENVILLE COUNTY
AND GIBBON...GAYLORD AND HENDERSON IN SIBLEY COUNTY.
 
FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IMMINENT.  YOU SHOULD KNOW THE LOCATION
OF NEARBY STREAMS OR CREEKS...SINCE THEY CAN BECOME KILLERS IN
HEAVY RAINS.  CAMPERS SHOULD MOVE TO HIGH GROUND.  DO NOT TRY TO
WALK THROUGH MOVING WATER THAT IS ABOVE YOUR KNEES...YOU MAY LOSE
YOUR BALANCE AND BE SWEPT AWAY.
 
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARD TO SEE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING.  MANY DEATHS OCCUR AT NIGHT WHEN PEOPLE TRY
TO CROSS FLOWING STREAMS.  THE WATER MAY BE MUCH DEEPER THAN YOU
REALIZE...OR THE WATER MAY HAVE UNDERMINED THE ROAD.
