THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MINNEAPOLIS HAS ISSUED A
FLOOD WARNING
EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1145 PM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN CENTRAL MINNESOTA
 
   ...MCLEOD COUNTY...WESTERN SIBLEY COUNTY
 
AT 940 PM RADAR WAS INDICATING TORRENTIAL RAIN OVER MECLEOD COUNTY
AND THESE TORRENTIAL RAINS WERE ABOUT TO ENTER WESTERN SIBLEY
COUNTY. THIS WOULD BE ABOUT 50 MILES WEST..SOUTHWEST OF THE
TWIN CITIES.
 
PREVIOUS REPORTS FROM EASTERN RENVILLE COUNTY INDICATED 2.5 INCHES
OF RAIN IN LESS THAN AN HOUR. THESE THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVNG EAST
AT ABOUT 20 MPH BUT MORE THUNDERSTORMS WERE DEVELOPING OVER THE
SAME AREAS.
 
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARD TO SEE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING.  MANY DEATHS OCCUR AT NIGHT WHEN PEOPLE TRY
TO CROSS FLOWING STREAMS.  THE WATER MAY BE MUCH DEEPER THAN YOU
REALIZE...OR THE WATER MAY HAVE UNDERMINED THE ROAD.
