ALZ013-015-016-501-LAZ501-081900- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MOBILE AL 1156 AM CDT THU JUL 8 1993 ...THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOP ACROSS SOUTHWESTERN BALDWIN COUNTY... AT 1150 AM CDT MOBILE RADAR SHOWED THUNDERSTORMS...SOME STRONG HAD DEVELOPED RAPIDLY FROM NEAR MALBIS TO GULF SHORES. MOVEMENT WAS WEST AT 5 TO 10 MPH. FREQUENT LIGHTNING...GUSTY WINDS...POSSIBLE HAIL AND VERY HEAVY RAINFALL ARE POSSIBLE. THE STRONGEST STORM WAS NEAR MARLOW. OTHER THUNDERSTORMS...SOME STRONG WERE BETWEEN THOMASVILLE AND CHANCE IN NORTHEAST CLARKE COUNTY. THESE WERE PART OF A LARGER RAIN AREA ACROSS MOST OF MONROE AND EASTERN CLARKE COUNTY. MOVEMENT WAS WEST AT 5 TO 10 MPH. ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORMS WERE IN THE GULF OF MEXICO 50 MILES SOUTH OF DAUPHIN ISLAND. MOVEMENT WAS SLOWLY WEST AND THESE LIKELY CONTAIN VERY HEAVY RAIN...POOR VISIBILITIES AND FREQUENT LIGHTNING. ALZ013-015-016-MSZ014-013-ALZ501-LAZ501-082045- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MOBILE AL 149 PM CDT THU JUL 8 1993 ...A SPECIAL MARINE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 215 PM FROM DAUPHIN ISLAND WEST TO GULFPORT... AT 145 PM CDT RADAR SHOWED STRONG THUNDERSTORMS MOVING ACROSS SOUTH MOBILE COUNTY AND JACKSON COUNTY MISSISSIPPI. THUNDERSTORMS...SOME STRONG WERE ALSO FROM NEAR LUCEDALE TO NEAR WAYNESBORO. THESE THUNDERSTORMS CONTAIN STRONG GUSTY WINDS...VERY HEAVY RAIN...FREQUENT LIGHTNING AND POSSIBLY SOME HAIL. WINDS HAD GUSTED TO 37 MPH AT THE PASCAGOULA AIRPORT AROUND 130 PM. VERY HEAVY RAIN AND SEVERE LIGHTNING WAS REPORTED FROM SEVERAL OF THE STORMS IN THE LpAST 30 MINUTES. LIGHTNING IS ONE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS ELEMENTS OF SUMMERTIME THUNDERSTORMS. WHETHER AFLOAT OR ON LAND SEEK SAFTEY WHEN A STORM THREATENS YOUR AREA.
