FLZ001>004-301930- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PENSACOLA FL 145 PM CDT WED JUN 30 1993 VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORMS...IN SHORT LINES AND CLUSTERS...WERE OVER NORTHWEST FLORIDA. THE STORMS STRETCHED FROM CRESTVIEW TO PANAMA CITY. IN ADDITION TO THE HEAVY RAINFALL...SMALL HAIL...AND WIND GUSTS TO NEAR 50 MPH IS POSSIBLE. FLOODING OF URBAN AREAS IS LIKELY AS THE STORMS ARE SLOW MOVING. MOTORISTS SHOULD AVOID LOW AREAS AND NOT CROSS FLOODED ROADS. FREQUENT TO NEAR CONSTANT LIGHTNING CAN BE EXPECTED WITH THESE THUNDERSTORMS. LIGHTNING SAFETY SHOULD BE THE RULE.

ALZ013-015-016-302015- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MOBILE AL 218 PM CDT WED JUN 30 1993 AT 215 PM...WEATHER RADAR SHOWED A CLUSTER OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS MOVING THROUGH THE EASTERN SECTIONS OF CONECUH COUNTY. THESE WERE IN ASSOCIATION WITH AN AREA OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WHICH EXTENDED FROM WEST CENTRAL ALABAMA SOUTHEASTWARD INTO NORTHWEST FLORIDA. THE THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING TO THE SOUTHEAST AT 15 MILES AN HOUR. THESE STORMS CAN PRODUCE HEAVY RAINFALL AMAOUNTS IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME IN ADDITION TO DANGEROUS LIGHTNING STRIKES...STRONG WIND GUSTS AND EVEN SMALL HAIL. THE GREATEST THREAT WITH THE SUMMERTIME THUNDERSTORM IS LIGHTNING. WHEN A THUNDERSTORM THREATENS YOUR AREA...MOVE INDOORS IMMEDIATELY OR SEEK SHELTER IN A CLOSED AUTOMOBILE. STAY AWAY FROM PLUGGED IN ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES AND WINDOWS UNTIL THE STORM HAS MOVED OUT OF YOUR AREA. ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORMS MAY DEVELOP OR MOVE INTO SNOUTHWEST ALABAMA THIS AFTERNOON.
