THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LAKE CHARLES HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  715 PM CST
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONSS...
 
IN SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA
 
   ...LAFAYETTE PARISH...VERMILION PARISH
 
AT 500 PM...THE LAFAYETTE SHERIFFS OFFICE REPORTED WIDE SPREAD FLOODING
STILL A PROBLEM OVER THE ENTIRE PARISH. WATER WAS INUDATING ROADWAYS
WITH SOME STALLED VECHICLES WITH WATER OVER THE TOPS OF THE AUTOMOBILES.
 
VERMILION PARISH SHERIFFS OFFICE REPORTED FLOODING OF ROADS CONTINUING.
SOME ROADS STILL CLOSED WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF ADDITIONAL CLOSURES
LATER.
 
ALTHOUGH RAIN HAS ENDED OVER MOST OF LAFAYETTE AND VERMILION
PARISHES..FLOODING WILL STILL OCCUR DUE TO RUNOFF OF THE RAIN WATER OVER
HTE SATURATED GROUNDS.
 
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.  IF FLASH FLOODING IS
OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.  MOVE UP TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.  DO
NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
