SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSON MS
215 PM CST MON FEB 15 1993

...THUNDERSTORMS POISED TO THE WEST...SOME SEVERE FOR TONIGHT...

STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS HAVE ERUPTED FROM NORTHWEST LOUISIANA
BACK INTO CENTRAL TEXAS THIS AFTERNOON. THESE STORMS ARE MARCHING
EASTWARD AT BETWEEN 40 AND 50 MPH MEANING THAT THEY COULD REACH THE
MISSISSIPPI RIVER BETWEEN 4 AND 6 PM CST. A TORNADO WATCH IS ALSO IN
EFFECT FOR MOST OF THE NORTHWEST HALF OF LOUISIANA AT THIS TIME.

A DEEPENING LOW PRESSURE CENTER NEAR WACO, TX WILL ACCELERATE NORTHEAST
REACHING NEAR MEMPHIS BY MIDNIGHT. STRONG SOUTHERLY WINDS GUSTING UP
TO 35 OR 40 MPH ARE LIKELY TO IMPACT THE WESTERN HALF OF MISSISSIPPI
SHORTLY AND A WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THOSE AREAS.

INCREASING WARM MOIST AIR FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO WILL FUEL THE THUNDER-
STORMS AS THEY RACE ACROSS THE MAGNOLIA STATE TONIGHT.
<
RESIDENTS OF MAINLY CENTRAL AND SOUTH MISSISSIPPI SHOULD KEEP TUNED
TO THE LATEST WEATHER INFORMATION THROUGH TONIGHT. CHECK YOUR SAFETY
PLANS AND BE READY TO SEEK SHELTER IN A STURDY BUILDING ON THE LOWEST
FLOOR AWAY FROM WINDOWS. THIS IS BECOMING A DANGEROUS WEATHER SITUATION
AND YOUR RESPONSE TO APPROACHING SEVERE STORMS COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE...
SECONDS CAN BE THE DIFFERENCE.
