THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WILMINGTON HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  830 AM EST
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN NORTH DELAWARE
 
   ...NEW CASTLE COUNTY
 
NEARLY 1 INCH OF RAIN HAS FALLEN AT THE NEW CASTLE COUNTY AIRPORT SINCE
THE RAIN BEGAN LATE WEDNESDAY EVENING. THE CHRISTINA RIVER GAGE NEAR
COOCHS BRIDGE INDICATES A READING OF 8.8 FEET. FLOODING STARTS AT 9.0
FEET. THE CHRISTINA RIVER WILL START FLOODING WITHIN THE HOUR AND FLOOD
DOWNSTREAM TOWARDS CHURCHMANS MARSH.
 
SINCE WEATHER RADAR SHOWS THE SHOWERS WILL MOST LIKELY END BY 5AM...THE
CHRISTINA WILL CONTINUE TO RISE FOR ANOTHER HOUR OR TWO AND SHOULD CREST
NEAR 10 FEET BY 6AM. IT SHOULD THEN START TO FALL AND BE BACK IN BANKS
BETWEEN 8AM AND 9AM THIS MORNING. SOME OTHER SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS
MAY ALSO FLOOD...AND SOME ROAD FLOODING IS LIKELY IN THE USUAL AREAS OF
POOR DRAINAGE.
 
ALTHOUGH THE SHOWERS WILL TEMPORAIRLY END SHORTLY...MORE SHOWERS ARE
EXPECTED  AGAIN LATER THIS MORNING AND THIS AFTERNOON...SO MORE FLOODING
IS POSSIBLE. PERSONS IN FLOOD PRONE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE ALERT
TODAY...
 
 
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.  IF FLASH FLOODING IS
OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.  MOVE UP TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.  DO
NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
