...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUE TO APPROACH UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA...

AT 900 PM EST STRONG THUNDERSTORMS OVER NORTHERN GEORGIA CONTINUE TO
MOVE EASTWARD AT AROUND 60 MPH. THE STRONGEST STORMS WERE BETWEEN
ROME AND ATLANTA GEORGIA AND SHOULD MOVE INTO THE UPSTATE AROUND
MIDNIGHT.

THUNDERSTORMS...SOME HEAVY...WERE MOVING FROM NORTHEAST GEORGIA INTO
THE UPSTATE THIS EVENING. STORMS HAD MOVED INTO WESTERN OCONEE AND
NORTHERN PICKENS COUNTIES. NO SEVERE WEATHER HAS BEEN REPORTED OVER
THE UPSTATE THIS EVENING.

PEOPLE IN UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA SHOULD REMAIN ALERT TO THE CURRENT
WEATHER CONDITIONS FOR THE NEXT FEW HOURS. LARGE HAIL...DAMAGING WINDS
AND A POSSIBLE TORNADO HAVE BEEN REPORTED FROM SOME OF THESE STORMS
IN NORTH GEORGIA DURING THE EVENING.

GRAHAM...AND MACON COUNTIES UNTIL MIDNIGHT...

...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR MACON COUNTY
UNTIL 915 PM EST...

AT 900 PM EST WEATHER RADAR INDICATED A VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORM ALONG
THE MACON COUNTY AND GEORGIA STATE LINE WEST OF HIGHLANDS. OTHER
THUNDERSTORMS WERE NEAR ASHEVILLE AND ACROSS THE FOOTHILLS NEAR MARION
AND IN SOUTHEAST BURKE COUNTY. THESE THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING EAST AT
60 MILES AN HOUR.

AS THE THUNDERSTORMS MOVED THROUGH WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA THERE WERE
SEVERAL REPORTS OF WIND DAMAGE...ONE IN MACON COUNTY IN THE NANTAHALA
AREA AND THE OTHER IN GRAHAM COUNTY NEAR TAPOCO. NUMEROUS AREAS REPORTED
SMALL HAIL.

LIGHTNING STRUCK A HOUSE IN THE MARION AREA OF MCDOWELL COUNTY STARTING
A FIRE. FIRE DEPARTMENTS WERE ENROUTE AT 900 PM.

PEOPLE IN WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA SHOULD REMAIN ALERT...BE READY TO GO TO
A SAFE SHELTER IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES. STAY TUNED TO NOAA

AT 910 PM EST...THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA HAD WEAKENED
AND NO LONGER POSED A RISK OF PRODUCING TORNADOES. THUNDERSTORMS IN THE
FOOTHILLS OF MCDOWELL AND BURKE COUNTIES CONTINUED TO MOVE EAST AT
NEARLY2 60 MILES AN HOUR.

THIS WILL BE THE LAST STATEMENT ON THIS THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY.

...DO NOT BROADCAST THIS STATEMENT BEYOND 1000 PM...

AT 900 THIS EVENING A THUNDERSTORM WITH HEAVY RAINS WAS OVER THE
NORTHERN PIEDMONT...BETWEEN NEWTON AND HICKORY OF CATAWBA COUNTY.
THIS THUNDERSTORM WAS MOVING TOWARDS THE NORTHEAST AT NEAR 50 MPH.

HEAVY RAINS...GUSTING WINDS AND POSSIBLY SMALL HAIL WILL BE
ASSOCIATED WITH THIS THUNDERSTORM.  EARLIER THIS EVENING THERE WAS
HAIL AS LARGE AS DIME SIZE AND SOME WIND DAMAGES WITH THUNDERSTORMS
IN THE SOUTHERN MOUNTAINS. ADDITIONAL WEATHER DAMAGES CAN STILL OCCUR
WITH THUNDERSTORMS THIS EVENING.

PEOPLE IN THE NORTHERN FOOTHILLS AND NORTHERN SECTION OF THE SOUTHERN
PIEDMONT SHOULD BE ALERT TO THE APPROACH OF THUNDERSTORMS.  IF
THUNDER IS HEARD...GO TO A PLACE OF SHELTER IMMEDIATELY.

PLEASE RELAY ANY REPORT OF WEATHER RELATED DAMAGES TO THE NEAREST LAW
ENFORCEMENT AGENCBY AND ASK THEM TO DIRECT THAT REPORT TO THE NATIONAL
WEATHER SERVICE.
