000 TTAA00 KCOU 132118 FFWCOU MOC019-027-051-135-140015- BULLETIN - EBS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COLUMBIA MO 416 PM CDT TUE JUL 13 1993 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN COLUMBIA HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 715 PM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS... IN CENTRAL MISSOURI ...BOONE COUNTY...CALLAWAY COUNTY...COLE COUNTY ...MONITEAU COUNTY AT 415 PM...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING HIGH WINDS NEAR 50 MILES AN HOUR...FREQUENT DANGEROUS LIGHTNING AND VERY HEAVY RAINS...EXTENDED FROM 20 MILES WEST OF JEFFERSON CITY...NEAR CALIFORNIA...TO 40 MILES EAST OF COLUMBIA NEAR HERMANN. THESE STORMS WERE MOVING SOUTHEAST AT 25 MILES AN HOUR. THE ALREADY SATURATED GROUND IN THE AREA WILL CAUSE RAPID FLOODING. MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN CARS AND TRUCKS. DO NOT DRIVE ACROSS A FLOODED ROADWAY. A FEW INCHES OF RAPIDLY MOVING WATER CAN SWEEP AWAY A CAR. IF YOUR CAR BECOMES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER...GET OUT AND MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
