THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  415 PM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION(S)...
 
IN SOUTH CENTRAL IOWA
 
   ...MARION COUNTY
 
AT 113 PM CDT...THE MARION COUNTY SHERIFF REPORTED 6 TO 7 INCHES OF
WATER FLOWING OVER HIGHWAY 5 NEAR PLEASANTVILLE. PLEASANTVILLE IS 25
MILES SOUTHEAST OF DES MOINES.
 
THE THREATENED AREAS WILL BE ALONG THE DES MOINES RIVER BASIN AND OTHER
TRIBUTARIES FLOWING INTO THE RED ROCK RESERVIOR.
 
2 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN FELL IN LESS THAN AN HOUR IN THE PLEASANTVILLE
AREA AS OF 1 10 PM.  THE STORM THAT PRODUCED THIS TORRENTIAL RAIN HAD
MOVED NORTHEAST AT 30 MILES AN HOUR AND AT 115 PM WAS ABOUT 40 MILES
SOUTHEAST OF DES MOINES...OR JUST NORTH OF PELLA.
 
 
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
