THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM 
AND SPECIAL MARINE WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 345 PM EDT FOR 
PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTY

   IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK
      NIAGARA

...THIS WARNING ALSO INCLUDES THE ADJACENT LAKE WATERS FOR THE   
COUNTY JUST MENTIONED

AT 230 PM BUFFALO WEATHER RADAR DETECTED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM
ABOUT 5 MILES NORTH OF YOUNGSTOWN.  THE STORM WAS MOVING SOUTHEAST
AT 35 MPH...AND WILL CROSS NIAGARA COUNTY DURING THE NEXT HOUR.

BE ON THE ALERT FOR THUNDERSTORMS ACCOMPANIED BY FREQUENT LIGHTNING
STRONG DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL.  LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN MAY ALSO
CAUSE DRAINAGE FLOODING.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BUFFALO NY
230 PM EDT TUE MAY 11 1993

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR NIAGARA COUNTY UNTIL 345 PM.

AT 230 PM EDT...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM HAD DEVELOPED OVER THE WESTERN
END OF LAKE ONTARIO 15 MILES SOUTH OF TORONTO. THE STORM WAS MOVING
EAST SOUTHEAST AT 40 MILES AN HOUR AND SHOULD BE PASSING OVER WILSON
AND OLCOTT DURING THE NEXT HOUR. THIS STORM HAS VERY HEAVY RAIN AND
POSSIBLY STRONG WINDS AND DAMAGING HAIL. BOATERS IN THE AREA SHOULD
SEEK SHELTER IMMEDIATELY.

THIS STORM WAS A PART OF A SYSTEM OF NEWLY DEVELOPED SHOWERS THAT
WERE SCATTERED FROM LONG POINT ONTARIO TO WATERTOWN NEW YORK.
