THE STATE POLICE REPORT ICE JAMS ON THE PASSUMPSIC RIVER WITH
FLOODING OF ROUTE 5 IN ST. JOHNSBURY CENTER AND THE INTERSECTION OF
ROUTE 5 AND ROUTE 114 IN LYNDONVILLE. WATER IS OVER THE ROADS AND
RISING.
 
AN ICE JAM ON THE BLACK RIVER HAS CAUSED FLOODING OF THE TOWN HIGHWAY
IN COVENTRY. POLICE ADVISE NOT TO DRIVE THROUGH THIS AREA...AS WATER
LEVELS ARE RISING.
 
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.  IF FLASH FLOODING IS
OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD
WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY. YOU SHOULD MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
