000 TTAA00 KTUL 021746 FFWTUL OKC143-145-022145- BULLETIN - EBS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TULSA OK 1246 PM CDT TUE JUN 2 1992 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TULSA HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 445 PM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES ... IN NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA ...SOUTHEASTERN TULSA COUNTY...WESTERN WAGONER COUNTY AT 1230 PM NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR SHOWED RAIN WITH EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS EASTERN OKLAHOMA. RADAR RAINFALL ESTIMATES AND LOCAL REPORTS INDICATE OVER 2 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN OVER SOUTHEASTERN TULSA AND WESTERN WAGONER COUNTY DURING THE LAST 3 HOURS. SMALL CREEKS AND RIVERS IN THE TULSA METROPOLITAN AREA ARE BANKFULL AND ARE IN JEOPARDY OF OVERFLOWING THEIR BANKS. PONDING OF WATER IS BEING REPORTED ON MANY OF THE STREETS...ROADS AND HIGHWAYS IN THE AREA...WHICH IS CAUSING CARS TO STALL AS THEY ATTEMPT TO CROSS THROUGH THE HIGHER WATER. RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO PASS OVER THESE AREAS WHICH HAVE RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL RAINFALL ALREADY...WHICH WILL CONTINUE A THREAT OF FLASH FLOODING FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS LIKELY OR HAS BEEN REPORTED. STAY ALERT AND WATCH FOR RAPIDLY RISING WATER. AT 855 AM CDT RADAR INDICATED A BAND OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS EASTERN OKLAHOMA FROM NEAR TULSA...ACROSS MUSKOGEE COUNTY...TO NEAR KEOTA IN HASKELL COUNTY. THE SHOWERS AND STORMS WILL PRODUCE A PERIOD OF VERY HEAVY RAIN AND DANGEROUS CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING AS THEY MOVE NORTHEAST AT 20 MPH. PONDING OF WATER IN LOW LYING AREAS WILL OCCUR AS A RESULT OF THE HEAVY RAIN. MOTORISTS SHOULD EXERCISE CAUTION AND BE ALERT FOR STANDING WATER.
