AT 520 PM...TWO STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WERE LOCATED IN NORTHEAST KANSAS. ONE WAS LOCATED 20 MILES NORTHWEST OF KANSAS CITY NEAR LEAVENWORTH WHILE ANOTHER WAS LOCATED 20 MILES NORTH OF TOPEKA IN THE CENTER OF JACKSON COUNTY. THE JACKSON COUNTY STORM WAS CLOSE TO MAYETTA. BETWEEN 520 AND 6PM THIS STORM WILL MOVE ACROSS EAST JACKSON COUNTY CLOSE TO THE COMMUNITIES OF DENISON...BIRMINGHAM...AND LARKINBURG. OTHER THUNDERSTORMS COULD POP UP JUST ABOUT ANYWHERE ACROSS NORTHEAST KANSAS HOWEVER THE MOST LIKELY SPOTS INCLUDE...ATCHINSON...JEFFERSON...JACKSON...NORTH SHAWNEE AND POTTAWATOMIE COUNTIES. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH REMAINS POSTED UNTIL 11PM FOR MOST OF NORTHEAST KANSAS. REPUBLIC..WASHINGTON AND CLAY COUNTY OF NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS AND SALINE.. OTTAWA..MCPHERSON AND DICKENSON COUNTIES OF CENTRAL KANSAS... AT 525 PM CDT RADAR INDICATED A 30 MILE WIDE AREA OF SHOWERS AND THUNDER- STORMS EXTENDING FROM 40 MILES EAST OF HAYS NEAR BUNKER HILL NORTHEAST TO CONCORDIA TO BEATRICE NEBRASKA. THE STRONGEST THUNDERSTORMS WERE LOCATED 50 MILES SOUTHWEST OF CONCORDIA NEAR VESPER AND DENMARK. BRIEF VERY HEAVY RAIN...HAIL...GUSTY WINDS AND DEADLY LIGHTENING CAN BE EXPECTED WITH THIS STORM AS IT MOVES EAST INTO THE LINCOLN AND BARNARD AREAS THROUGH 545 PM AS THE STORMS MOVE TO THE EAST AT 30 MPH.
