FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  730 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN EAST CENTRAL ALABAMA

AT 520 PM EDT THE COLUMBUS WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE HAS MEASURED
TWO AND A HALF INCHES OF RAIN SINCE 4 PM EDT. THIS RAIN ON TOP
OF THE 1.46 INCHES THAT FELL YESTERDAY THROUGH THIS MORNING.
HEAVY RAIN IS STILL OCCURRING AND RADAR SHOWS THE AREA
OF RAIN OVER US WAS NEARLY STATIONARY. COLUMBUS AND PHENIX
CITY POLICE REPORTED HEAVY FLOODING ACROSS BOTH CITIES. PLEASE
BE CAUTIOUS IN THIS VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
 
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT.  MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS
THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL
ONE...ON FOOT.  TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.
