THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SALT LAKE CITY HAS ISSUED A FLASH
FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 12 MIDNIGHT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING
LOCATIONS...

IN SOUTH CENTRAL UTAH

   ...EASTERN GARFIELD COUNTY...EASTERN KANE COUNTY
   ...EASTERN WAYNE COUNTY

IN SOUTHEAST UTAH

   ...SAN JUAN COUNTY

STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAINFALL IS BEGINNING TO MOVE OVER
THE SOUTHEASTERN QUARTER OF UTAH.  THESE THUNDERSTORMS ARE ASSOCIATED
WITH A COLD FRONT SLOWLY MOVING TO THE SOUTHEAST ACROSS UTAH.  THERE
HAVE BEEN MANY REPORTS OF FLASH FLOODING TODAY IN OTHER AREAS OF UTAH
ASSOCIATED WITH THIS PATTERN.  

WITH SOILS ALREADY SATURATED IN THE WARNING AREA FROM MONDAY'S
RAINFALL...FLASH FLOODING MAY OCCUR AS THESE THUNDERSTORMS MOVE OVER
THE AREA.  ALSO...FLASH FLOODING MAY OCCUR SEVERAL MILES DISTANT FROM
THUNDERSTORMS AS RUNOFF TAKES PLACE.

PERSONS PLANNING BACK-COUNTRY HIKES OR CAMPING TRIPS ARE REMINDED TO
AVOID SETTING CAMPSITES IN DRY STREAMBEDS...WASHES...OR DRAWS.  THESE
COULD BECOME RIVERS OF DEATH IN A FLASH FLOOD.  BE ESPECIALLY
CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS OF FLASH
FLOODS.
