...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH IN EFFCT FOR PARTS OF NORTHEAST AND CENTRAL
TEXAS...

THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUED TO DEVELOP OVER PARTS OF NORTHEAST AND NORTH
CENTRAL TEXAS WITH A FEW STORMS ALREADY INCREASING TO STRONG INTENSITY.

AT 340 PM CST THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR IN SHREVEPORT SHOWED
SCATTERED SHOWERS AND ISOLATED STRONG THUNDERSTOMS IN AN AREA FROM
PARIS TO LONGVIEW...WESTWARD TO BETWEEN FORT WORTH AND WACO. STRONG
THUNDERSTORMS OVER NORTHEAST TEXAS WERE NEAR EMORY...SOUTHWESTWARD TO
JUST SOUTHEAST OF DALLAS. SCATTERED SHOWERS HAVE ALSO DEVELOPED OVER
SOUTHWEST ARKANSAS.

STORMS WILL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP RAPIDLY OVER NORTHEAST AND NORTH CENTRAL
TEXAS THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING AND SPREAD EAST AND NORTHEAST OVER THE
REMAINDER OF THE ARKLATEX LATER TONIGHT. A FEW OF THE STORMS WILL REACH
SEVERE INTENSITY...AND HEAVY RAINFALL WILL LIKELY OCCUR AS WELL.

THE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING TO THE EAST NORTHEAST AT 30
MILES PER HOUR.

THIS WILL BE ONLY THE FIRST IN A SERIES OF SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM
EVENTS OVER THE NEXY FEW DAYS. AFTER A RATHER PROLONG DRY PERIOD...
AN UPPER LEVEL SYSTEM OVER THE SOUTHWESTERN PART OF THE COUNTRY WILL
RESULT IN NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TONIGHT INTO FRIDAY
MORNING...AND AGAINT BY SUNDAY.

...SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUED TO SPREAD ACROSS THE WESTERN
SECTIONS OF THE ARKLATEX REGION...

AT 500 PM CST WEATHER SERVICE RADAR IN SHREVEPORT SHOWED SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS..SOME PRODUCING LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS..OVER NORTHEAST
TEXAS..NORTHWEST LOUISIANA..AND SOUTHWEST ARKANSAS.  IN TEXAS...
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS EXTENDED FROM NEAR MAUD..KILDARE..AND
SCOTTSVILLE WEST TO NEAR  COOPER..KAUFMAN..AND PALESTINE.  THE
STRONGER STORMS WERE INDICATED NEAR BETTIE AND GILMER AND SOUTHEAST
OF WILLS POINT.  IN ARKANSAS AND LOUISIANA A BROKEN BAND OF SHOWERS
ABOUT 15 MILES WIDE EXTENDED FROM NEAR GURDON SOUTH TO NEAR CANFIELD
ARKANSAS AND INTO LOUISIANA TO NEAR PLAIN DEALING..SHREVEPORT/BOSSIER
CITY AND TO NORTH OF LOGANSPORT.

THE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING TO THE EAST AT NEAR 25 MPH.
THE STRONGER STORMS HAVE BEEN PRODUCING STRONG AND POSSIBLY DAMAGNING
WINDS..HAIL..AND FREQUENT AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING.

THE STORMS OVER UPSHUR COUNTY IN NORTHEAST TEXAS NEAR GILMER AND
BETTIE WERE INDICATED TO BE SEVERE AND WILL REQUIRE A WARNING
FOR GREGG AND HARRISON COUNTIES SHORTLY.
