THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RALEIGH/DURHAM HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  930 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN EAST CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA
 
   ...WAYNE COUNTY
 
IN NORTHEAST NORTH CAROLINA
 
   ...WILSON COUNTY
 
HEAVY RAIN OVER THE PAST FEW DAYS HAS CAUSED FLOODING IN WAYNE AND
WILSON COUNTIES. AT 530 PM EDT A LINE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WAS
MOVING SLOWLY NORTHEAST ACROSS THESE COUNTIES. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL
AMOUNTS OF ONE TO TWO INCHES ARE LIKELY DURING THE NEXT FEW HOURS.
THIS WILL CAUSE STREAM LEVELS TO RISE AND CAUSE FLOODING OF LOW-LYING
AND URBAN AREAS.
 
ALSO...THE NEUSE RIVER AT GOLDSBORO IS ABOVE FLOOD STAGE. AT 515 PM
EDT THE GAUGE LEVEL AT GOLDSBORO WAS 17.5 FEET. FLOOD STAGE IS 14
FEET. A SLOW RISE IS EXPECTED TO OCCUR OVERNIGHT.
 
ALL PEOPLE IN WILSON AND WAYNE COUNTIES SHOULD LISTEN FOR LATER
STATEMENTS AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS OF LOCAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
OFFICIALS.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.

DAMAGING WINDS.
