AZZALL-0120000- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PHOENIX AZ 225 PM MST TUE AUG 11 1991 ...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS ALONG THE MOGOLLON RIM THIS AFTERNOON... WEATHER RADAR AND AFTERNOON SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOW THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT ALONG THE MOGOLLON RIM BETWEEN THE WHITE MOUNTAINS TO JUST NORTH OF PAYSON. RADAR INTENSITIES INDICATE THAT LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL MAY BE EXPECTED WITH THESE STORMS AS WELL AS GUSTY WINDS AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING. A VERY MOIST AIRMASS COMBINED WITH MAXIMUM AFTERNOON HEATING BY THE SUN ARE THE MAIN INGREDIENTS FOR THESE THUNDERSTORMS. WINDS ALOFT ARE RATHER LIGHT AND THE STORMS ARE NOT SHOWING VERY MUCH MOVEMENT. MOTORISTS... CAMPERS AND OTHER PERSONS ENGAGED IN OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES SHOULD TAKE SHELTER WHEN THESE STORMS DEVELOP OVER YOUR AREA. BRIEF HEAVY SHOWERS AND LIGHTNING ARE LIKELY FROM THESE STORMS THROUGH THE EARLY EVENING HOURS. CARPENTER/BRECKENRIDGE
