SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AND FLASH FLOOD WARNING
EFFECTIVE UNTIL  545 PM MST
FOR THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS......
 
IN SOUTH CENTRAL ARIZONA
 
   ...NORTHEASTERN PINAL COUNTY...MAINLY FOR THE MINING COMMUNITIES
OF KEARNY...HAYDEN...WINKELMAN... AND STATE HIGHWAYS 177 AND 77.
 
VERY INTENSE THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPED IN THE HAYDEN AND WINKELMAN
AREAS AT 345 PM.  THESE THUNDERSTORMS ARE LIKELY SEVERE...
PRODUCING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 57 MPH...WITH SOME DEGREE OF FLOOD
OR FLASH FLOODING.
 
WEATHER RADAR SHOWED THESE THUNDERSTORMS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS.
RESIDENTS IN THE AREA SHOULD TAKE SHELTER IMMEDIATELY AWAY FROM
WINDOWS TO AVIOD FLYING DEBRIS.  BE ALERT FOR FLOOD OR FLASH
FLOODING.
 
 
URBAN FLOODING IS OVERFLOW OF CITY STREETS AND DRAINAGE SYSTEMS...
ENOUGH TO FLOOD RESIDENCES AND BUSINESSES AND CLOSE CITY STREETS.
POSTPONE ANY UNNECESSARY DRIVING UNTIL THE STORM IS OVER.
 
FLASH FLOODING IS MOST DANGEROUS IN THE MOUNTAINS...ALONG STREAMS IN
NARROW STEEP> WALLED CANYONS. MANY DEATHS HAVE RESULTED WHEN MOTORISTS
TRIED TO OUTRACE A FLOOD IN THESE CANYONS. CLIMB TO SAFETY IF A FLOOD
DEVELOPS.
