THIS THUNDERSTORM OUTLOOK IS VALID ONLY FOR OKLAHOMA ZONES 4 THROUGH 21.

THERE IS A MODERATE RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PORTIONS
OF WESTERN...CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN OKLAHOMA THIS AFTERNOON AND
TONIGHT. THE MODERATE THREAT AREA IS GENERALLY SOUTH OF A LINE
EXTENDING FROM HOLLIS TO CLINTON TO GUTHRIE TO WETUMKA TO BOSWELL.

THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS DURING THE SAME
PERIOD OVER THE REMAINDER OF THE FORECAST AREA...PRIMARILY NORTHWESTERN
AND NORTH CENTRAL OKLAHOMA.

STRONG THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO FORM TO THE WEST AND SOUTHWEST OF
OKLAHOMA LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND MOVE EASTWARD OVER THE STATE
THROUGH THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT. A FEW OF THESE STORMS WILL LIKELY
BECOME SEVERE PRODUCING LARGE HAIL...STRONG WINDS AND HEAVY RAINFALL.
WHILE CONDITIONS DO NOT APPEAR FAVORABLE FOR A SIGNIFICANT OUTBREAK OF
TORNADOS...THE POSSIBILITY OF ISOLATED TORNADOS CANNOT BE RULED OUT AT
THIS TIME.

A STRONG UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM IS MOVING FROM SOUTHERN ARIZONA
TOWARD THE TEXAS PANHANDLE EARLY THIS AFTERNOON.  AN ALREADY MOIST AND
UNSTABLE AIRMASS NEAR THE SURFACE IS IN PLACE OVER OKLAHOMA AND THE
INSTABILITY IS EXPECTED TO INCREASE AS THE UPPER LEVEL SYSTEM APPROACHES
THE STATE. EARLY THIS AFTERNOON THERE ARE NO WELL MARKED SURFACE
BOUNDARIES TO SERVE AS A FOCUSING MECHANISM FOR THUNDERSTORM
DEVELOPMENT. HOWEVER... ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS MAY DEVELOP DURING THE
AFTERNOON IN THE VERY UNSTABLE AIR.  MORE LIKELY... THUNDERSTORMS WILL
DEVELOP WEST OR SOUTHWEST OF THE STATE LATE TODAY AS THE UPPER LEVEL
SYSTEM APPROACHES AND AND A SHARP SURFACE TROUGH DEVELOPS OVER WEST
TEXAS AND SERVES AS A TRIGGERING MECHANISM.

CIVIL DEFENSE AND SPOTTER GROUPS SHOULD REMAIN ALERT TO ADDITIONAL
DEVELOPMENTS THIS AFTERNOON AND BE PREPARED FOR ACTIVATION BY THIS
EVENING.

RAPIDLY JUST NORTH OF CHILLICOTHE IN HARDEMAN COUNTY...FROM 2 MILES EAST
OF CROWELL EXTENDING SOUTHEAST TO NORTH OF SEYMOUR AND NORTHWEST OF
NEWCASTLE IN YOUNG COUNTY. MOVEMENT OF THUNDERSTORMS NORTHEAST AT 35 MPH.

RESIDENTS NEAR THESE THUNDERSTORMS SHOULD MONITOR THE WEATHER CLOSELY
AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD SEVERE WEATHER BE SIGHTED OR
WARNING ISSUED.
