OKC109-082330- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OKLAHOMA CITY OK 425 PM CDT MON JUN 8 1992 AT 425 PM CDT RADAR INDICATED RAPIDLY DEVELOPING THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE OKLAHOMA CITY METROPOLITAN AREA. VERY HEAVY RAINFALL WAS INDICATED FROM JUST NORTHWEST OF TINKER AIR FORCE BASE ACROSS THE I40/I35 JUNCTION TO JUST EAST OF THE DOWNTOWN AREA. ANOTHER THUNDERSTORM WAS INTENSIFYING THREE MILES NORTHWEST OF CHOCTAW. THE THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHEAST AT 10 MILES PER HOUR. THE HEAVY RAINFALL WILL RESULT IN CONSIDERABLE WATER ON ROADWAYS AND FLOODING OF LOW-LYING INTERSECTIONS. MOTORISTS SHOULD REDUCE SPEED AND AVOID TRAVEL THROUGH AREAS PRONE TO FLOOD DURING HEAVmY RAINS. STAY TUNED TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO FOR LATER UPDATES.
