THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SAN FRANCISCO HAS ISSUED A FLASH
FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 730 AM PST FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING
LOCATIONS..

IN CENTRAL CALIFORNIA

...SANTA CRUZ COUNTY...

AT 5 AM THE SAN LORENZO RIVER AT BIG TREES NEAR FELTON WAS WELL ABOVE
THE UNOFFICIAL FLOOD STAGE OF 14 FEET..AT 15.5 FEET..AND CONTINUING
TO RISE QUICKLY.  

IN SAN MATEO COUNTY...MAJOR FLOODING WAS REPORTED DURING THE NIGHT AT
PESCADERO ALONG PESCADERO CREEK.  ALSO..AT 4 AM PST SAN FRANCISQUITO
CREEK NEAR PALO ALTO HAD CRESTED NEAR BANKFULL..BUT WAS FALLING
SLOWLY BY 5 AM.

IN MONTEREY COUNTY..BOTH ARROYO SECO NEAR GREENFIELD AND CARMEL RIVER
AT ROBLES DEL RIO WERE CLOSE TO BANKFULL AT 5 AM AND WERE CONTINUING
TO RISE.

MANY OTHER SMALLER CREEKS IN THESE THREE COUNTIES ARE OUT OF THEIR
BANKS.  ALL THOSE LIVING OR TRAVELLING THIS MORNING NEAR ANY RIVERS
OR STREAMS SHOULD USE EXTEME CAUTION.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLASH FLOODING OR MUD SLIDES AND
FLOWS ARE OCCURRING OR IMMINENT.  PERSONS IN THE WARNING AREAS
SHOULD BE PREPAREDk TO MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND AT A MOMENTS NOTICE IF
HEAVY RAIN OR FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED OR IF A HILLSIDE IS
NOTICEABLY WEAKENING OR ABOUT TO GIVE WAY.
