IN EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA ...VOLUSIA COUNTY. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WAS DETECTED ABOUT 15 MILES SOUTH OF DAYTONA BEA THIS SEVERE THUNDERSTORM SHOWED A SLOW WESTWARD DRIFT...ABOUT 5 MPH. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE DAMAGING WIND IN EXCESS OF 55 MPH...DESTRUCTIVE HAIL...DEADLY LIGHTNING...AND VERY HEAVY RAIN. STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WERE OVER THE SOUTHWEST AND SOUTHCENTRAL PART OF MARION COUNTY...ABOUT 15 MILES SOUTHWEST OF OCALA AND JUST SOUTH OF BELLVIEW. THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY PRODUCE STRONG WINDS...DANGEROUS LIGHTNING...VERY HEAVY DOWNPOURS AND POSSIBLY SOME HAIL AS THEY MOVE THROUGH THE AREA THIS AFTERNOON. THE STORMS WERE MOVING NORTHEAST 10 MPH AND WILL BE MOVING INTO THE EAST PART OF THE COUNTY BY MID AFTERNOON. THE SAFEST PLACE DURING AN ELECTRICAL STORM IS INDOORS...AWAY FROM DOORS AND WINDOWS.
