IN SOUTHWEST TEXAS ...SOUTHERN PECOS COUNTY AT 517 PM CDT...A PECOS COUNTY DEPUTY REPORTED A FUNNEL CLOUD 35 MILES SOUTH OF THE CITY OF FORT STOCKTON MOVING EAST. A TORNADO WATCH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1000 PM FOR PART OF SOUTHWEST TEXAS. IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF A TORNADO...THE SAFEST PLACE IS A BASEMENT. GET UNDER A WORKBENCH OR PIECE OF STURDY FURNITURE. AT 425 PM CDT... WIDELY SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS...SOME WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN...WERE LOCATED IN FAR WEST TEXAS FROM BETWEEN BALMORHEA AND FORT DAVIS EXTENDING SOUTHEAST TO BETWEEN FORT STOCKTON AND MARATHON. THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL WAS OCCURRING BETWEEN BALMORHEA AND FORT DAVIS AND 20 MILES NORTHEAST OF ALPINE. MOVEMENT WAS EAST AT 15 MILES AN HOUR.
