TXZ046-048-221345- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORT ARTHUR TX 537 AM CST SAT FEB 22 1992 A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR JEFFERSON, ORANGE, HARDIN AND JASPER COUNTIES TEXAS UNTIL 10AM CST. A FLOOD/FLASH FLOOD WATCH IS ALSO IN EFFECT FOR TODAY. AT 530AM A BROAD AREA OF LIGHT TO MODERATE RAIN WITH A FEW THUNDERSTORMS WAS MOVING ACROSS SOUTHEAST TEXAS. THUNDERSTORMS WERE LOCATED IN THE HOUSTON AREA AND FROM PALACIOS TO EAGLE LAKE. SATELLITE ESTIMATES HAVE SHOWN 1 TO 2 INCH RAINS WITH THESE STORMS. SOUTHEAST TEXAS AND THE GOLDEN TRIANGLE CAN EXPECT WIDESPREAD RAIN WITH A FEW STORMS PRODUCING HEAVY RAIN FOR MOST OF THE MORNING. BOTH THE MAIN STEM RIVERS, THE NECHES AND SABINE ARE FULL. FORTUNATELY BOTH THE PINE ISLAND BAYOU AND VILLAGE CREEK ARE WELL BELOW BANKFULL READINGS. THE GROUND HOWEVER REMAINS SATURATED AND ALMOST ALL OF THE RAIN WILL QUICKLY RUN OFF OR POND IN THE LOW AREAS. DJK NNNN
