WIDELY SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS HAVE ERUPTED ACROSS SECTIONS OF CENTRAL AND SOUTH MISSISSIPPI THIS AFTERNOON. JUST AFTER 4 PM... PEA SIZE HAIL WAS REPORTED IN SOUTHERN RANKIN COUNTY ABOUT 10 MILES SOUTH OF BRANDON IN THE ROCK HILL COMMUNITY. SINCE THE AIR ALOFT IS VERY COLD...A FEW OF THE STORMS WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY HEAVY DOWNPOURS OF RAIN WITH SOME HAIL. WIND GUSTS NEAR 40 MILES MAY ALSO OCCUR. THE THUNDERSTORM THREAT SHOULD END AROUND THE JACKSON AREA BY 5 OR 530 PM AND AROUND HATTRIESBURG BY 6 OR 630 PM AS AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE CURRENTLY OVER CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI MOVES EAST TOWARDS ALABAMA.
