A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR PORTIONS OF EASTERN NORTH
CAROLINA...PARTS OF NORTHEAST SOUTH CAROLINA AND THE ADJACENT COASTAL
WATERS UNTIL 3 PM.

REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE
FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA.  PERSONS IN
THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS
AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

AT 1030 AM...RADAR SHOWED A VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORM ABOUT 15 MILES
NORTHWEST OF FAYETTEVILLE IN THE SANDHILLS OF NORTH CAROLINA.  THIS
STORM HAS A HISTORY OF PRODUCING GOLF BALL SIZE HAIL...DAMAGING WINDS
ALONG WITH VERY FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING.

THE THUNDERSTORM WAS MOVING VERY RAPIDLY EAST AROUND 40 MILES AN HOUR

TOWARD SAMPSON COUNTY IN THE SOUTHERN COASTAL PLAIN.  PERSONS
IN SAMPSON COUNTY SHOULD BE PREPARED TO SEEK SAFE SHELTER AS THIS
THUNDERSTORM APPROACHES OVER THE NEXT HOUR OR SO.

ELSEWHERE SHOWERS WERE OVER THE NORTHEAST PIEDMONT OF NORTH CAROLINA
AROUND RALEIGH.  THESE SHOWERS WERE ALSO MOVING EAST AROUN\D 40 MILES
AN HOUR.
